Long Island Newborn Session

What a beautiful little baby. She was only 9 days old, It was so fun to work with such a tiny little baby.

I was watching my kids, thinking how cute they looked eating their watermelon. Then my next thought was, wow how can they be sooooo messy! But oh, how cute they look messy.

Heaven help any photographer who tries to photograph their own kids. This is the best I got. Yes, I will take it, tongue and all. Lily is crying in the next picture because Lucas has just thrown a lump of sand in her face. Why do I torture myself and try to get the perfect picture, when these are the true moments of my life. I had to get Lucas's hair wet so that the picture wouldn't show the bad hair cut I gave him two days prior. Ahhhh, what an adventure!
We went up to Connecticut last week and spent time with some friends at a sweet little beach house in Old Lyme. So quiet and peaceful. It was hard to come back home.

You have to just laugh at this photograph of the big brothers mauling their baby sister.


OK, so we are living on long Island now, so I have tried to do what Long Islanders do.....beach shots. What a new adventure, beach shots, in direct sunlight, something I never thought I would be doing 4 months ago. I loved it! Could it get any better then the beach & kids. I had so much fun with this shoot today that I can't wait for the next beach shoot.

What beautiful smiles they all had! What a great family. It was a joy to photograph them.

Lucas feels he has to give me the claw every time I try to take a picture of him. I can thank my brother Chris for that one.

Well, I can say that my two little ones are becoming very good bikers. In our apartment complex the sidewalks have foot drop offs and we have 4 stairs that enter into a patio area and Lucas has been able to go down the sets of stairs and do the sidewalk drop offs. So when we head back west someday he is going to be quit the mountain biker .

I love photographing little ones. He was 8 days old and as long as he was warm he was happy. His big brother was so good with him. We had fun, or more like it, I had fun and older brother humoured me.

My kids

I went to the World Professional Photography Conference, in Las Vegas 2 weeks ago, and was completely inspired. I noticed I was drawn more to "life style portraits" then any portraits done in a studio. So this is my new goal, to make my kids my models, and photograph them everywhere. So, I made a list of what my kids love to do and began there. The pool, playing on our bed in the morning and playing in our living room. I need a little more practice to capture my little boys enthusiasm about his bike. It will take a lot of work, but I sure hope my photography can go down this new exciting path. We'll see!
